Wilson King Stone House
Built in 1842 as a single-family residence, the stone house was originally located on St. Lawrence Avenue in downtown Janesville. Moved to the Rock County Historical Society campus in 1964, the stone house served as both a historic house museum and archives location since its relocation.
In search of a new use for the site and recognizing a need for offering food preparation options to campus guests, the Society, in its Strategic Plan, envisions the stone house as the campus concessions and catering venue. Equipped with food preparation facilities, it will serve daily campus guests and rental clients as they utilize other campus spaces.
With an opening date yet to be determined, the future and potential of the Wilson King Stone House is bright with its proposed dual purpose: offering food service to campus guests as the same time as it serves as an educational center, celebrating Rock County’s agriculture.
