Where Past Meets Present

Success at the Lincoln-Tallman Fun Dash 5K

The Rock County Historical Society would like to thank everyone who was involved in the Lincoln-Tallman Fun Dash 5K on Saturday – from runners to volunteers!  The event went swimmingly, and we hope everyone had a lot of fun.

There was certainly an excited crowd that donned beards and tuxedo shirts this weekend.  We had 75 registered runners and over 100 guests to the RCHS campus, including Mr. Peanut and his Nut Mobile! At 4pm, the runners assembled at the starting line, and were soon off down the Ice Age Trail in a sea of red.

The overall winner of the men’s division was Mitchell Lorenz from Janesville. Coming in next was Shilo Titus and Mike Scott of Janesville. The first place winner of the women’s division was Katie Sanders of Beloit. Next was Amber King and Madison Schultz of Janesville. Congratulations everyone!

Throughout the day, our visitors had a lot of fun with Mr. Peanut, playing bags and taking pictures. Many people took discounted tours of the Lincoln-Tallman house, with special guests Mr. and Mrs. Tallman in period clothes!  The kids could be seen playing with the cloud dough and getting their faces painted.  There were some pretty competitive little ones for the Toddler Trot! South Padre Street Food and the beer tent were popular places toward the end of the event.

We would also like to thank our sponsors who made this event possible: BMO Harris Bank, Mercy Health, MacFarlane Pheasants, Gilbank Construction, Gray’s Brewery, NL Audio, Rock County Dairy Promotion and South Padre Streetfood.  We would also like to thank both the runners and volunteers for making this event happen! We had a blast, and hope you did too!
